PRECISION ENGINEERING, REFINED OVER GENERATIONS
A great piano responds accurately to every note, giving the player consistent control across the full dynamic range. At Remenyi House of Music, we consider the Yamaha SX Series one of the most significant advances in recent acoustic piano design. Built for intimate venues, chamber halls, and serious home studios across Canada, the SX Series delivers exceptional responsiveness and tonal range. The more you play an SX Series grand, the more its full tonal palette reveals itself.
TONAL RANGE AND PROJECTION
The SX Series reflects Yamaha's "singing" tone philosophy: a sustained, vocal-like quality across the keyboard. Drawing on decades of acoustic research, Yamaha engineered the SX to translate touch into warm, even tone with minimal harshness in the upper register. The result is a piano with wide tonal range and accurate dynamic response, suited to demanding repertoire.
BUILD AND CONSTRUCTION
An SX Series grand is assembled from thousands of individual parts, nearly all sourced from natural materials. Final assembly and voicing take place in Yamaha's Japanese workshops. As the only authorized acoustic Yamaha dealer in the Toronto and the GTA, Remenyi prepares and delivers each instrument fully regulated and ready to play.
MATERIALS
The SX Series uses materials typically reserved for concert-grade instruments. The soundboards and ribs are made from hand-selected European spruce, chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio and resonance. The back-frame beams are approximately 20% thicker than the previous generation, increasing structural rigidity, reducing unwanted vibration, and improving resonance and tuning stability. The SX Series also uses a newly developed hammer felt formula for consistent tonal colour across the full register.
CRAFTMANSHIP
The SX Series is built using Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.), a Yamaha wood-reforming technology that controls temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure to accelerate the aging of the wooden rim. The process produces, in a new instrument, the warm resonance normally associated with decades of natural aging. Bass strings are hand-wound in pure copper by Yamaha artisans, combining automated precision with hand-finishing.
LONG-TERM VALUE AND SUSTAINABILITY
A.R.E. is a chemical-free, low-environmental-impact process. As the only authorized acoustic Yamaha dealer in the GTA, Remenyi House of Music supports a manufacturer with established commitments to sustainable forestry, music education, and responsible manufacturing, factors that protect both the instrument's long-term value and the resources used to build it.
