The exciting music of Violin Music by Women can now be enjoyed by violists! Volume 2 explores 1st-3rd positions in a variety of styles and technical challenges. Two newly-commissioned works just for viola portray a ghostly castle with a whole tone scale (Mary Cohen, The Ruined Castle), and a cat's amorous dalliance (Wendy Ireland, Romanza). There's also an opportunity for ornamentation in Ireland's Celtic-style Irish Fancy. Plus many of your old favorites like Tanglefoot's Mad Chase, At Twilight, and The Sunset Dance!

The Intermediate 1 volume contains pieces that use first, second and third positions, with occasional forays up to the half-string harmonic. There are chances to use your vibrato as well as show your fast fingers. Upbow staccato, spiccato and artificial harmonics are included-- stretch your technical muscles! For violists only: get your Celtic on with "Irish Fancy" (suggestions for ornamentation in the back), and explore whole-tone scales in the spooky "Ruined Castle"!
