One of the most important and most successful makers of the circle of “Budapest Copyists” active at the end of the 19 th and beginning of the 20 th century. His instruments are rare and highly prized. Many of them have been re-labeled and sold as the work of more famous Italian masters as Enrico Rocca etc. They are instruments of exceptional quality. This fine Guarneri delGesu copy is one of the finest examples of Spiegel’s personal work known to us, displaying his special varnishing process. It was the life-long performing and recording instrument of a noted Canadian artist and professor of a leading university’s string faculty.
As recognized as experts in the instruments of the Vienna- Budapest-Prague school we specialize in finding and offering undisputed and choice examples by the many excellent makers of these three musical capitals of Central Europe.
