Above Parr is the coming-of-age story of a musical child prodigy. As Patsy Parr, and not yet ten years old, she performed as a soloist with the Toronto Symphony at Massey Hall and the New York Philharmonic in Carnegie Hall. June Callwood, of Maclean’s Magazine, dubbed her “Canada’s #1 child wonder in music.” In the seven decades that followed, the author went on to have a brilliant and celebrated career as a soloist and chamber music artist. However, like so many child prodigies, she grew up feeling that her parents’ love depended upon her success.
