- Description
Continuing where the First Grade book left off, John Thompson's Modern Course for Piano - Second Grade is thoughtfully designed to advance students steadily while keeping each lesson engaging. This time-tested, world-renowned method helps students build both technical skill and musical understanding through progressive exercises and examples that expand beyond basic five-finger positions. The Second Grade book introduces exciting new elements, including hand expansion, pedal use, major and minor scales, arpeggios, and chord analysis. With every lesson, students encounter musical excerpts from light opera, ballet, oratorio, and classic works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and more. These carefully selected pieces not only enhance pianistic skill but also deepen students' appreciation for music itself. Perfect for beginners, this course nurtures well-rounded musicians who are eager to explore the world of music further.
